Axial View of Liver and Vessels
Description
The subcostal window is situated between the xiphoid process and the umbilicus in the midline. The probe is placed in an transverse position (sideways) a third of the way between the xiphoid process and the umbilicus with the probe mark pointing to the left of the patient. This will display the liver with the aorta anterior to and slightly to the left of the vertebral column and the IVC to the right and above the abdominal aorta.Position
