Pulmonary Artery Subcostal View

Description

Maintaining the probe position as described for Atrial Subcostal View, the probe is angled more anterior than the aortic view. The right ventricular outflow tract and the pulmonary valve can be imaged. Colour Doppler examination of the right outflow tract shows laminar flow. There is a trace of pulmonary valve insufficiency noted in diastole. This is represented by the small red jet seen. this can be a normal finding in the early newborn period.
